Welcome
Welcome to Macon County German Shepherd Rescue Inc. We are a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by mother-daughter duo, Cinnie Parkins and Ashley Petrescu, in 2023. Our mission is to rescue neglected, abused, and abandoned German Shepherd Dogs from the streets, shelters, partner rescues, and owners who can no longer keep them and rehabilitate while fostering them until they can be adopted to their furever homes! We are a NO-KILL rescue. We are located in Macon County in Western North Carolina, but we work across the nation to save the Shepherds!
This week’s Pup of the Week goes to Spot! He is a 12-month-old short-haired male Lab/German Shepherd Mix. Spot is a loving boy who just wants to kiss his humans! He is a bit shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he is super affectionate! Spot is great with other dogs and kids. He is so sweet and just has a lot of love to give! Spot is up-to-date on vaccinations and ready for adoption! This sweet boy is waiting for his new family! Adopt this loving boy and make him a part of your family! Apply today by visiting our website and emailing us a completed application.

Shepherds Helping Humanity & Enrichment Program
The Shepherds Healing Humanity & Enrichment Program (SHHEP) aims to synergize shepherds and society. SHHEP serves the vulnerable, saves the hopeless, soothes the wounded, strengthens the vulnerable, and supports the community. All volunteers are welcome at Macon County German Shepherd Rescue, but SHHEP specifically collaborates with local organizations to incorporate volunteers from the most vulnerable populations of our society including veterans, at-risk youths, disabled persons, foster children, and seniors. Enhancing the lives of all, but specifically children, veterans, disabled persons, and seniors is achievable with SHHEP. By saving the shepherds, SHHEP aspires to save humanity. If you are interested in joining our program, please click here or email us!

In Memoriam of Remy
We have had so many amazing people reach out to us about wanting to donate to our cause in honor of our dearly departed Remy. We are beyond touched by everyone's love and support! Remy was not an ordinary dog. He was my mom's diabetic alert service dog, and he saved her life multiple times. Everyone who knew our family, knew Remy. He was our giant, fluffy furball. Remy touched so many lives just by his presence, and he is sorely missed! If you would like to donate to our cause in his honor, we would be most appreciative! Thank you all for your love and support!
Our story begins when Ashley was a little girl, and all she ever wanted was a dog, but her mom said no. Ashley's mom, Cinnie, being a single parent, couldn't take on being Super Mom to 2 young children, working 3 jobs, and caring for a dog on top of that. So, when Ashley was 14 years old, instead of caring for kids in the community like most girls her age, she watched pets to get her dog-fix. Cinnie and Ashley would go on to help the community and their pets for the next 15 years. We cared for a variety of breeds, but it was about 17 years ago when a daughter begged her mother to rescue a dog that was going to be pointlessly euthanized because the owners wanted a younger dog. Mom agreed, thus started our love for German Shepherds!
Keiffer was a 10-year-old German Shepherd Husky mix. He was the best first dog we could have ever asked for! He lived out the rest of his life with us spoiled rotten until he journeyed across the Rainbow Bridge at the ripe age of 14. We learned a lot about the breed with him, and as animal lovers in general, we wanted to do more. We started volunteering at various dog rescues, and finally became involved with two of the largest German Shepherd Rescues in Florida. We have been rescuing, fostering, and finding forever homes for GSDs for over 15 years now.
We moved to North Carolina during the pandemic, and now that we are settled, we wanted to continue our work up here by opening a brand-new operation! Thus, Macon County German Shepherd Rescue Inc. was born! Contact us today via phone, fax, website, Facebook, or email if you want more information on how you can help save the Shepherds!! Thank you for all your support!
Our Story
Save the shepherds!
1
Adopt
Macon County German Shepherd Rescue appreciates your interest in adopting one of our rescued dogs. German Shepherd Dogs are a strong working breed in need of experienced and active families, and we ensure our dogs are placed in homes compatible with their personalities and activity levels. 2
Foster
We rely on fosters to increase our capacity and give animals a better chance of adoption. We are looking for people interested in taking GSDs into their home who will provide a safe and loving environment. Most of these dogs have spent the majority of their lives undergoing neglect and abuse. Open your home and help a dog in need today! Click below for more information about how you can help save a life!
3
Volunteer
We are a volunteer-based organization and rely on your help to continue saving lives. When you volunteer, you give the dogs one of the greatest gifts of all, your time. Whether it's spending one-on-one time with them, helping at events, or assisting in other ways, you’re helping the dogs find their forever homes.
